Abstract: |
Seven small trenches, 0.75m by 0.9m, were excavated in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin prior to the installation of French Drains around the walls of the church. These revealed a brick drainage gully along the south wall, a brick culvert and earthenware pipe runs carrying away rainwater from the roof, all of 19th-century date. Buried structural details relating to the walls of the church were also noted. [Au(adp)] |
