Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken during the removal of a brick floor in the basement of 44 Stonegate. The building was originally built in the 15th century, with extensive alterations in the 18th century and in modern times. The basement floor appeared to be of eighteenth century construction and was bedded onto mortar below which no excavation took place. [Au(abr)]
