Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation at St. Andrew's House in Devon was undertaken. The site was located in the historic core of the town adjacent to St. Andrew's parish church. The work comprised the machine-excavation of three trenches totalling 15.7m in length. These revealed a deep overlying sequence, indicating that the site had been subjected to extensive landscaping, possibly associated with the original construction of the house and during works for a modern extension. No pre-modern archaeological activity was identified, although a single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered in association with later (post-medieval) finds. [Au(abr)] |
