Abstract: |
Nine trial trenches were excavated as part of an archaeological evaluation. The evaluation indicated the likely survival of substantial medieval and post-medieval archaeology in the whole area below 15 to 29 Union Street, with perhaps the greatest depth of archaeology surviving below 15 to 21 Union Street. Archaeological deposits survived in some trenches, except where they had been truncated by a concrete beam, beneath which up to 0.7m of deposits had probably remained. The floors of cellars were found some of the trenches and its believed that mediaeval and post medieval deposits and structures would have almost certainly survived. [Au(adp)] |
