Abstract: |
Six trial trenches were excavated ahead of redevelopment work. They gave no indication of activity before the medieval period, neither was there evidence of medieval structures. However pottery recovered showed that the site was in use in the period, probably as backlands. This open space was encroached upon in the post-medieval period. There was little evidence for the survival of significant archaeological deposits in the area, however a watching brief was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
