Abstract: |
Ten of the eleven test pits contained evidence, in whole or in part, of infilled cellars, and it was clear that these would have removed a significant percentage of the original archaeological deposits across the site. The overall impression was therefore of occasional localised areas of surviving archaeological stratigraphy between the extensive cellars. The latter were primarily in stone and although probably in the main of post-medieval date they formed part of a significant, perhaps multi-phase, group of buried buildings. These were of archaeological significance and could tell much about the earlier plot layout and urban density in this part of Bristol. [Au(adp)] |
