Abstract: |
An evaluation prior to construction of new university accommodation sought to locate features relating to the adjacent castle. Several cobbled surfaces were revealed, dating from the 13th century and after, and these were interpreted as possible forecourts. No structural remains of a gatehouse were found, but a large number of 13/14th century rooftiles recovered suggested a high status building nearby.[AIP] |
