Abstract: |
The assessment defined that the site lay within the area of Sapcote Castle. The development was likely to impinge on areas of archaeological sesitivity adjacent to the motte of the castle. Previous archaeological work in the vicinity had shown that important remains existed and given earlier, unrecorded destruction of deposits during development work in the 1940s, the profile of surviving layers had been elevated.
