Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of auger investigation and the excavation of three trial trenches, revealed that medieval walls, presumed to be part of the Friary, lay buried at a depth of up to 1m. One of these walls ran along the rear of the property on the line of the proposed extension of the house. Running at right angles to this and parallel with the boundary, another buried wall ran along the western edge of the proposed out-building. An earlier pit or linear feature, also of medieval date, was detected at the rear of the existing house. [Au(adp)] |
