Abstract: |
The proposed site for the Church Hall appeared to lie within the original 1412 churchyard. Consequently, it would have been used for burials over a period of over 400 years. The geotechnical investigation revealed charnel soil and bone fragments within the footprint of the proposed building. These fragments came from an area away from the known marked graves and tombs. Apart from the grave features, miscellaneous finds of stonework, either from tombs or from the destroyed medieval church itself may be encountered. Since the site was apparently undeveloped until 1412 it was not known whether any earlier features might have been present on the site. [Au(abr)] |
