Abstract: |
<summary>Archaeological recording was undertaken during trenching works carried out for the underpinning of the south range of Wilton House. A range of structural elements were identified strengthening circumstantial evidence supporting the supposition that the house incorporated parts of Wilton Abbey. However, the absence of secure dating evidence, except for an area of 12th to 13th century floors in Room 8 and remains of 17th century piling beneath the wall between Rooms 7 and 8, made a detailed interpretation of the likely early internal layout of the south range impossible. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
