Abstract: |
Extensive trial and small scale excavations were carried out on the site. A number of shallow pits and ditches were identified dating to the 12th century, when tenements were probably established on the site. By the late 13th century, stone buildings had been built on the site. An oven base and stone drain were found in association with one of the buildings. A boundary ditch, latter replaced by a boundary wall, was also identified. By the 15th century the site had been abandoned and by the 19th century was in use as an orchard. [Au(abr)] |
