Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a small housing development. A group of five Bronze Age round barrows, of which two remained, had lain to the south-west of the proposal site, and evidence of Iron Age activity in the area was exemplified by two probable hillforts. A Roman coin hoard had been found near a Roman road which passed to the west. Areas of medieval and industrial development in the form of corn mills had lain to the north and east of the proposal site. During the evaluation, no features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified. [Au(adp)] |
