The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of two 2m by 5m trial trenches, was undertaken across the site prior to its proposed redevelopment. The site lay in an area of considerable archaeological and historical importance. Archaeological excavations in Rectory Grove recorded prehistoric flints and pottery and early Saxon features. The site of a medieval manor house was thought to be located close to Turret Grove. The evaluation produced four sherds of pottery dated within the period AD 970-1100, plus two sherds of early post-medieval date. This evidence and two associated pits may have reflected activity within the gardens and backyards of the medieval manor house. Post-medieval development was represented by late 18th century / early 19th century features and dumping, relating at least in part to the later houses situated on the site. [Au(adp)]
