Abstract: |
The results of 75 test pits and 25 boreholes were examined during the study in response to a proposed bypass, in an attempt to produce archaeologically predictive data. No fieldwork was conducted. Good stratigraphic sequences were produced and buried landscapes have been tentatively identified, with the estimated age of peat accumulation beginning c.3700BP. The site has good potential to recover archaeological remains from the Neolithic period onwards. This is increased by the better survival of organic archaeological deposits in wetlands. [AIP] |
