Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of land revealed interesting settlement and industrial features of Romano-British (1st to 3rd century) date. The deposits likely to survive within the assessment area were considered to have the potential to expand on the limited knowledge on the origin, development and end of the Romano-British settlement at Middlewich, and would allow the integration of Middlewich into the local and regional pattern of Romano-British settlement. It was demonstrated that well-preserved features were present, relating to the salt-working industry and to iron-working and domestic settlement. [Au(adp)] |
