Abstract: |
Post-medieval deposits were recorded during the geotechnical test-pit recording along the western side of the site - with no archaeological deposits recorded along the eastern side or central area of the site during both the digging of geotechnical test-pits and the watching brief for a light shaft. Along the western side of the site a brick wall (possibly running north-south) was recorded in two test pits although it was not certain whether the bricks had been reused or not. The wall was sitting on a layer of silty and clayey sand, which contained one sherd of salt-glazed pottery (c.17th/18th century) and a fragment of green-glazed floor tile. During the watching brief, natural sand was recorded as being sealed by a layer of brown sandy clay containing 'modern' brick fragments. [Au(adp)] |
