Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief and a small excavation were carried out by Birmingham University Field Archaeology Unit during the laying of a new water pipeline from the Thelsford Pumping Station to the Stratford Road, Hampton Lucy. During observation and salvage recording particular attention was paid to a section of the pipeline which passed through the southern part of a cropmark complex (Warwickshire SMR Ref No WA 956) which appeared to suggest a settlement of unknown date. Several features were identified and recorded in this area, suggesting a small settlement enclosure. One pit contained several fragments of coarse pottery, probably of Iron Age date.[AIP] |
