Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment and resulting evaluation was carried out in advance of a proposed residential development. The desk-based assessment concluded that the site had not been developed until the early 20th century and was peripheral to the medieval core. The field evaluation consisting of five trenches, revealed two layers of peat overlying the natural boulder clay. A post-medieval alluvial layer was also recorded, which was likely to have been caused by waterlogging. Despite the potential for medieval activity on the site, no archaeological features or finds were located within the trenches. [Au(adp)] |
