Abstract: |
Archaeological observations were maintained during the installation of a water pumping system to and from a newly created freshwater lagoon. The main archaeological interest of the site lay in its proximity to, and impact on, an earth embankment known as The Sea Wall. The embankment was one of a number constructed at different times from at least the early 18th century onwards to prevent salt-water inundation and reclaim land for pasture. No artefactual dating evidence was found for the sea wall. [AIP] |
