Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained on the 5th September and 7th September 2006 during ground reduction for a cesspool unit and associated drainage at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Sedlescombe, East Sussex. The presence of three gravestones had indicated that human remains of late 18th and early 19th century date were likely. In situ human remains were discovered and after appropriate recording these were removed and placed in the custody of the church for reburial. No other archaeological deposits or features were observed. [Au] |
