Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site which lay partly within an Archaeological Priority Zone was undertaken. A Roman cemetery lay in the vicinity, and a Roman road passed nearby. Roman artefacts and a well may have been recorded at the site itself, although the NGR for these was uncertain. A medieval road may also have crossed the site. The area had been quarried for brickearth and gravel during medieval times; it had been developed by the end of the 16th century. It was concluded that an evaluation would be necessary. [AIP] |
