Abstract:		 Planning permission was granted for the construction of three dwellings, three garages and associated access on land off Charlton Street, Steyning. A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks at the site, including a topsoil strip and the excavation of strip foundations. No archaeological deposits or features were observed, but a large number of clay tobacco pipes were recovered from the topsoil. [Au(adp)]
