Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out on the site of the late 17th century fort. Three tranches were excavated on the site and identified the clay ramparts 0.5m below the modern ground surface. The edge of the moat was observed in one trench, together with the remains of a timber revetment. A series of cut features associated with the earlier Henrican defences were also observed.
