Abstract: |
A field evaluation of three trenches was carried out in advance of a proposed development. No archaeological deposits were discovered in any of the three trenches. Dumped rubble deposits uncovered in Trench 3 probably related to a recently demolished farm. Although no archaeological deposits were revealed, it was thought that the study area occupied the site of the medieval village of Hylton. It was therefore recommended that a programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken during the development. [Au(adp)] |
