Abstract: |
The route of a new outfall drain was examined following its completion, as it had not been possible to undertake an intended watching brief during construction. Previous evaluation of the western end of the route had revealed a small stone 'setting' which remained undated but was thought likely to be of the Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age period. Other remains had included a later Roman ditch and a number of stone-filled drains of probable post-medieval date. The post-construction examination located unstratified artefacts of Roman and post-medieval date. A preliminary assessment of pollen recovered during the evaluation was appended to the report.
