Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out on the excavation of foundations and ancillary works for a telecommunications mast in Cheriton Wood. The site was within the Cheriton Civil War battlefield as listed on the English Heritage Register of Historic Battlefields. Only two features were observed in the excavations and these were believed to be modern drainage features. A metal detector scan of the area failed to locate any artefacts. A nearby lynchet and quarry pit were also recorded. [AIP] |
