Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation of the final development phase on the site was carried out in November 1996. The investigation involved the excavation and recording of four mechanically-excavated trenches. Two subsoil features of possible archaeological origin were noted in the NE area of the site. Elsewhere an undisturbed soil horizon survived below the tarmac surfaces, but which was largely devoid of archaeological artefacts. The archaeological features in the north-east of the site were difficult to date from the very fragmentary finds, but may have been of later prehistoric date. The density of finds and features did not indicate any great intensity of settlement activity. [Au] |
