Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was undertaken along the proposed line (phase 1 route) for the Thirsk water improvement scheme. Running westwards for Felixkirk through south Kilvington no areas of significant archaeological potential were recorded, however, towards the westernmost point five areas were recorded for their potential. The line runs close to a Grade II Listed mill, bisects the Roman Road and is adjacent to a moated site, part of Mowbray's manor house. Ridge and furrow as well as ill-defined cropmarks (either curvilinear or rectilinear in form) were also recorded. [Au] |
