Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a covered stock area and a storage lagoon, at a site which had been one of the centres of the post-medieval Donyatt pottery industry. Pottery had been produced at the site from c. 1700 until the early 20th century. During the watching brief, a coarse metalled surface of probable 18th century date and a possible pit or similar cut feature which contained pottery were recorded. A layer of brick fragments was also observed, which may have represented a 20th century surface built prior to the modern concrete surface. The majority of the pottery sherds retrieved were of 18th century date. [Au(adp)] |
