Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out as part of a planning application for the construction of a bungalow and two houses with associated garages. The site lay west of the SAM (County No. 240) Barrow Hills Round Barrow cemetery which formed part of a complex group of funerary monuments revealed by aerial photography. Aerial photography had also revealed a large oval cropmark, possibly a Neolithic long barrow, close to the development site. However, no features or finds of archaeological interest were revealed during the excavation of wall footings for the proposed buildings. [Au(abr)] |
