Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of three trial trenches (19.6m, 19.2m and 19m by 1.6m), was undertaken across the site of proposed housing development. The evaluation proved that archaeological remains existed on the site including extensive evidence for early medieval backyard plots and earlier features whch may have been linked to the adjacent prehistoric and Anglo-Saxon activity excavated in the 1940's during sand extraction.
