Abstract: |
Archaeological deposits of medieval/post-medieval date were recorded in two of the trenches. In the centre of the site archaeological deposits were uncovered below ground level. A small piece of slag recovered suggested that industrial activity was occurring in the vicinity. Environmental evidence showed the presence of oats, wheat, barley and peas, all of which were a common part of the diet in northern England during the medieval period. [Au(abr)] |
