Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land with known medieval and post medieval agricultural activity. A desk-based assessment revealed well documented evidence concerning Dothill Manor and its estates dating from 1926 to 1793. A sample excavation consisting of seven trenches revealed no evidence for manorial remains pre-dating 1626, no evidence for a putative Saxon or early medieval manor and only one possible element of the elaborate formal gardens of 1734-1793.
