Abstract: |
An evaluation and subsequent excavation were carried out at a site within an archaeological priority area. Prehistoric remains had been recorded in the surrounding area, and a Roman villa and Saxon cemetery had been excavated. The initial evaluation trench discovered the remains of a late 17th or early 18th century foundation wall. The trench was extended so that the remainder of the proposed building footprint could be investigated, and an earlier phase of building, possibly dating from the 16th century, was revealed.[AIP] |
