Abstract: |
Excavations have shown that the area had been subject to substantial truncation. In all the excavated trenches the tarmac/concrete surface had been laid directly onto the surface of in- situ bedrock, which indicated that the site had been subject to landscaping which had reduced the original ground level. The lesser amount of truncation to the north-east of the site may allow deeper archaeological features such as wells and pits to survive in a truncated form. However, the likelihood of substantial archaeological deposits surviving was considered minimal.[Au(abr)] |
