Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of the residential redevelopment of the site. A series of soils and prehistoric potsherds which were found of similar date, Late Bronze Age, to the spearhead and sword. Medieval pottery dated 1230-1400 was recovered from the topsoil/subsoil interface in some of the northernmost trenches. The only evidence for post-medieval structures was part of a 19th century brick wall footing, a robbed Victorian river wall and a slipway with railway lines. It was recommended that any need for further action be reviewed with the Local Planning Authority once more detailed design information are available. [Au(abr)]\n |
