Abstract: |
Following the demolition of various concrete, brick and asbestos buildings to the rear of Clerksons Hall and the removal of rubble and hard-standing, a site visit was made. Apart from the residue of demolition and a light covering of rain-washed mud, bedrock was exposed over most of the site. Although some background activity related to the post-medieval use of Clerkson's Hall and even surviving medieval property boundaries may have been expected, it was clear that terracing associated with the construction of Clerkson's Hall and its later use, had removed any archaeological remains which may have existed.
