Abstract: |
<summary2>A watching brief was undertaken during ground preparation works for a new pumping station and connecting mains drain. The drain excavation was close to the site of Lamel Hill, where Anglo-Saxon burials have been found. In 1644 the mound was built up to house a gun battery. In all of the trench excavation no archaeological deposits were found. It is possible that landscaping of the site may have truncated or destroyed any archaeological remains. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers: {italoff}1990.1023 (YAT investigation identification no) |
