Abstract: |
An evaluation of a redevelopment site at Dundee Wharf was carried out. The site was located just to the north of the Thames in an area which has a well documented history from the 14th century; there are late medieval references to wharves and from the 16th century there was a parallel development of shipbuilding and related trade. Two excavated trenches produced considerable evidence for post-medieval activity from about AD 1600. This included extensive remains of a brick-walled and floored cellar and evidence for 17th and 18th century timber structures. There was also a considerable finds assemblage, primarily pottery of 17th century date: this included a number of pieces of intrinsic importance. [Au(adp)] |
