Abstract: |
A survey was undertaken to identify and map all archaeological and historical features within the estate in order to provide an accurate and up-to-date database of this resource for management purposes. Detailed documentary research was carried out as well as fieldwalking and aerial photography. A significant number of archaeological and historical features were identified ranging in date from the prehistoric to the post-medieval period. Several new sites were identified of regional and possibly national importance and therefore it is suggested that further fieldwork be carried out. The documentary evidence contributed greatly to the understanding of the development of the estate. Management recommendations are also made within the report. [Au(adp)] |
