Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on the construction of tennis courts, skating/basketball and multi-purpose areas in the north-eastern part of the site. The results of the Stage Two watching brief were mostly negative. The only feature encountered was a post-medieval/modern pond in the southern corner of Area B, while the few archaeological finds consisted of five pieces of worked flint, probably of late prehistoric date, from the topsoil in the same area. These mostly negative findings reflected those from the Stage One watching brief, and together they suggested that no significant archaeological remains were present within the area of the Leisure Development.
