Abstract: |
Assessment of land proposed for development formerly belonging to Cribbs Farm, identified that the site appeared to have been open fields for the majority of its documented history. The site lay approximately 1km from the medieval settlement of Charlton and close to a possible Roman road. No immediately visibl archaeological features were present on the site except for a north-western and south-western banks which were thought to be recent features associated with the tarmacing of the perimeter of the site. The shallow depth to underlying geology recorded adjacent to the site suggested that very little activity of archaeological significance was likely to be present. [Au(adp)] |
