Abstract: |
A Fluxgate gradiometer survey was undertaken in advance of a proposed housing development. The survey detected a number of features within areas 3A and 3B. A possible track or road was observed, not previously seen on any maps of the area. A complex series of building foundations was also identified. The presence of many positive anomalies which superficially resembled small pits were observed, as well as the overwhelming presence of ploughing striations and wheel ruts. In this instance the field had been freshly ploughed and harrowed immediately prior to the survey and the effects were amplified. A number of enigmatic circular and linear features were detected which may have suggested prehistoric activity. [Au(adp)] |
