Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of a desk-based assessment and the excavation of seven trial trenches (16m, 15.5m, 13m, 13.5m, 11m, 12.5m, 11m by 1.6m), was undertaken in order to fulfil a condition upon planning permission for the residential development of the site. The excavation, which was within the probable extent of the medieval village, recovered evidence for a medieval settlement of 12th-13th century date, including the stone foundations of a building. Evidence for a medieval pond was also discovered. [Au(adp)] |
