Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation, comprising the excavation of 16 trial-trenches and 62 test-pits, was undertaken on land proposed for a holiday village development in Aucombe Wood, which forms part of the Longleat Estate. No archaeological deposits or features, with the exception of five small sherds of post-medieval pottery, were located. The soil cover across the wood was thin, with a poorly developed subsoil sealing sand and chert deposits heavily disturbed by root action. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
