Abstract: |
Excavations and survey work was undertaken at the Hermitage, a little circular building constructed in the 1760s. Excavations showed that there was a timber floor inside the building which was renewed at least once. The ground-level around the back of the building was found to be very much the same as the modern ground-level. Fragments of plaster, glass, metal and wood among the accumulated debris within the building greatly added to knowledge of the internal finish of the walll, as well as the form of the door and the iron casement window. Survey of the building was also undertaken. [Au(adp)] |
