Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the removal of overburden from the site and the excavation of the foundations for the construction of a motor dealership. The location of the site had suggested the possible presence of medieval stratigraphy but none was identified. This could be explained by the nature of the previous land use. It appeared that the construction of a Public House and the garage showroom, coupled with the terracing of the western half of the land, had extensively eradicated all archaeological evidence of any earlier human occupation.
