Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a site proposed for a nursing home development indicated that the land, until recently largely occupied by allotments, was a rabbit warren from the 12th century or later, presumably serving Westbury College. Earlier finds had also been made of Mesolithic and Romano-British material during previous excavations at Westbury College and the site was adjacent to the Holy Trinity Church which may have overlain an earlier Saxon building.
