Abstract: |
During the watching brief three possible medieval dumping or make-up layers were revealed. The earliest medieval features were pits of unknown function overlain by a make-up layer. This was in turn truncated by later medieval pits. A robber trench, containing 11th and 12th century pottery was also revealed. A large cess pit was the latest medieval feature found in the excavation area. Another large pit recorded was also possibly a cess pit. The only post-medieval features on the site were 18th century cellar brick wall foundations and associated later backfill between them. [Au(adp)] |
